Not a Happy Meal at this MacDonalds

Photo of a hotel entrance
Carole and I are away for a few days in the MacDonalds Craxton Wood Hotel, a nice hotel just outside of Chester.

Nice that is, apart from the service in the restaurant...

For valentine's day (yes we still do this despite being in our late thirties), we thought we'd enjoy a relaxing meal in the hotel restaurant without worrying too much about the bill. We went to the residents' bar early and the barman told us to take a seat - he'd be along shortly to take our drinks order. However, he promptly forgot about us altogether. After eventually ordering our drinks at the bar we then waited another 10 mins for them to arrive, then a further 10 mins to see the menus. At this point we were promptly forgotton again, so only after complaining were we finally shown to our table - an hour late. At least we were offered complimentary drinks for being so consistently invisible.

The meal itself once we were at our table was fine (my steak was a little undercooked but at least it wasn't mooing), and we were finally able to see the funny side of the things. That was until we received the bill - when we noticed the 'complimentary' drinks had been charged for!
Not good. Not good at all.
